The Idea

John Salibello is known for its collection of Murano glass boxes. They are used as candy dishes, a place to leave your keys, something to tie together a console in a living room. Playing on the multi-purpose nature of these boxes, I incorporated the box into someone’s every day carry. It’s better than any handbag.

The Script

A woman hails a cab. She’s dressed for a night out in a black dress and heels. She’s holding a Murano glass box the same way she would her clutch. She gets in, says where she’s going and opens her box to get out her lipstick.

Cut to: A close up on the box as the woman walks through a restaurant to be seated with her friends.

Cut to: The group of women clanking martini glasses behind the box.

Cut to: The group of friends giggle and point out of frame. Someone’s flirting behind the box.

Cut to: Hugs goodbye behind the box.

Cut to: A similar top down shot. There’s a phone number on a piece of paper in the box.

Cut to: A locked off shot of a console in a foyer. A glimpse of light from the front door opening. The woman walks in and sets the box down on the console. She walks on... before doubling back, opening the box to take out the piece of paper with the phone number on it. She leaves the box open and exits the frame.
